Rise and Shine! It’s vacation time! Dave and I rose early at 4:00 am. We were up and ready and got our last minute items in our luggage. Right on the dot, my mom was at our door (4:30 am) to take us to the airport. It seemed as if our walk to the terminal was forever. We got there in plenty of time to take off. We sat somewhat together… in the same row across from each other in the isle. Off to Washington DC we went. We arrived at a cold (39 degrees) Dulles international airport without a hitch and were ready for our next leg of the trip: To San Juan, Puerto Rico. Were expecting to watch a movie about a singer but instead got a sad tale about a woman. The flight was late 20 minutes because the pilots had mechanical problems on their first flight. Finally, off we were… into the wild blue yonder….flying Higgghhh into the skyyy… I got a “mini-meal” it was quite tasty. There was a young girl sitting next to me and a man was hitting on her the WHOLE time… I could tell she really wasn’t interested but wasn’t sure how to end the conversation. Anyway…. We get to San Juan and I was rather surprised at how modern the airport was. It was quite nice…. It even had a starbucks and a subway. After a LONG walk to our terminal we were greeted by a mariachi band who was playing the Happy Birthday song to a lady. How Fun! They also played another song while we were waiting on our bus to take us to the plane. I went up to ask the attendant what time she though our plan was going to start boarding…. She responded by asking me to take my seat. Lol! No bother… I could tell she was having a long day. We got in our plane they asked for people to move to the back of the plane to help balance the plane….so we volunteered. We then proceeded to take off…. Well, we tried anyway. For a second we went fast, as if to take off, but then we ended up slowing down. They thought something was off, but with testing they found everything was in order. Soooo we had to wait longer. On the flight they began to hand out forms for everyone to fill out, except they didn’t have enough for us in the back. (I think that because we volunteered to move we would have first pick of the forms…but I guess not) sooo we had to get forms when we landed. We got to immigration fine and then went to get our luggage. Dave got all of his and I got my toiletries bag. But hmm………. No clothes… they did not have my clothing bag. ARG! We waited for the next flight to see if it would be on that one, but had no luck. So we went on our boat to the resort. We had a joyful ride… smelling the salt water ocean and feeling the cool yet warm breeze on our faces. It was wonderful. We docked and were greeting by the general manager and other attendants. The first thing Dave spotted a baby barracuda In the mangrove nursery. They had a cool wash cloth waiting for us so that we could cool down and clean up. It had a wonderful smell of lemons! Fantastic! While we were in the golf cart Dave spotted the rare and elusive pigmy gecko: The smallest gecko in the world. We are pretty sure that is what it was, it was too dark to tell four sure but it was definitely teeny tiny. An attendant drove us to our cottage and Dave saw a larger lizard on the way. He has such good eyes! There were gorgeous flowers on the way too: hibiscus and others that we don’t know the names of quite yet. We definitely have an ocean view room. We have a porch/deck, a sitting room, bed room, walk in closet, bathroom, and outdoor shower….ooooohhhh ahhhhhh. Dave also spotted a coconut in a palm tree. We freshened up for dinner and headed up our walkway to the castle. The service and food was outstanding. I got scallops with asparagus for my appetizer. They were perfectly cooked! For dinner I got salmon with some sort of cheese. Then I got raspberry chocolate moose for dessert. Dave got a grilled zucchini salad, mahi mahi for dinner, and a banana parfait for dessert. (Which was kind of like ice cream with mango cubes and crystallized sugar). In between our appetizer and meal we got banana sorbet to cleanse our palate.

The trip over was long but as soon as we got to Biras Creek Resort it was all well worth it..

I better get my clothes tomorrow!!!
